Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We appreciate the importance and the difficulty of the decision you are making.
We are excited at the prospect of bringing another baby into our happy home and want to give you a glimpse into our lives so that you can learn a little about why we would make a good family for your child.
How we met
We met in 1993 during college when Diane, a sophomore, was one of Adam’s freshman orientation leaders. Approximately one month after meeting, we started dating and continued all the way through college. During this time, our affection grew into a deep love and appreciation for each other and remains strong today. A week before Adam’s graduation, we were engaged. We got married 18 months later, in 1998, while Adam was in graduate school. Our wedding was a fun celebration with lots of family and friends.
We enjoy reading good books; watching Penn State football; and watching movies together. We can’t wait to share these and other interests with another child, but more than that we are looking forward to the day to day activities and the excitement of watching our children learn, develop and grow into wonderful human beings.
Diane
My childhood was spent with my mom, dad, and 2 brothers in a suburb of Pittsburgh. Our house was filled with love and laughter. In addition to my immediate family, I have a very large, close-knit extended family. My mom has 5 sisters and my dad has 3 sisters and a brother. I have 16 cousins and every Thanksgiving, my mom’s side of the family rents out a hall to fit the 100+ family members that attend the meal.
Currently, I am 33 years old and am a stay at home mom. I enjoy baking and decorating cakes (especially children’s birthday cakes), scrap booking, camping, and anything dealing with Disney. I have been to Disneyland four times and Walt Disney World ~30 times. I am very excited at the idea of having another child to take to these wonderful places and seeing the joy that it brings him/her.
I have always known that I wanted to be a mom. My strong desire to love and nurture children led me to know that I needed to marry a man who wanted children as much as I did. When I met Adam, I knew that he was that man. He is a very caring, smart and energetic man whom children adore. He is a “big kid” (who constantly plays with our daughter) and a wonderful father.
Adam
My childhood was spent in a suburb in New Jersey with my mom, dad, and younger brother. My mom was great about making us feel special. She always stressed the importance of teamwork and education encouraging my brother and I to participate in sports and do well in school.
Currently, I am 32 years old and have spent the last year working for a supply chain company. One of the more appealing aspects of my job is the flexibility I have to work from home or adjust my schedule when needed.
Outside of work, one of my passions is participating and watching sports of all kinds. I enjoy the strategy and the teamwork needed. I feel that it is important for a child to learn what it is like to be a member of a team. I will encourage our children to participate in sports, when old enough, and plan to be active in supporting these activities, including coaching. Other interests of mine include reading, the outdoors, and computers.
I have always wanted a family and knew from the first time I met Diane that she was the person that I wanted that with. She is a great wife and a fantastic mother. This is demonstrated by her caring, nurturing and selfless nature. Diane has always shown a connection with babies by her ability to calm a crying baby to sleep.
Samantha
Samantha is 3 years old. She is adopted and has been with us since birth. She is a very active and happy child. She takes dance lessons and attends preschool a few days a week. She is very excited by the idea of being a big sister.
Currently, we live in a 4 bedroom; 2 bath house in Florida. The fourth bedroom is the future site of a nursery, which we plan to decorate in a Winnie the Pooh theme. We have a great swing set in our back yard (it has a slide, swings, climbing walls and a climbing ladder), a sandbox on our patio and a toy room that is filled with fun toys.
In Closing
We will provide our children with a secure, fun and financially stable home. We are committed to helping them grow, get a good education and discover their own passions and talents. If we are so fortunate as to adopt your child we promise to give him/her the unconditional love and support that every child needs.
Best Wishes,
Diane, Adam and Samantha
